In my quest for health I have been working on loving my body for where it is now. In an effort to find that love I have been making a list of things that my body can do. I think that when we see the things our bodies are capable of we gain love and respect for it. So here is my list (still adding to it each day):
My body can...
-laugh
-walk
-jump (with minimal bladder leakage)
-run (not for miles, but I can run)
-walk
-hug and be hugged
-wrestle
-tickle
-create and grow people
-fall asleep relatively quickly and comfortably
-take care of myself
-paint my own nails
-cook meals
-clean
-work hard
-sew (very simple things with or without patterns)
-drive
-have fun
-kiss and be kissed
-study and learn
-function on little sleep (when needed)
-stretch
-heal itself
-lift
-type
-communicate
-look nice
-do more than I give it credit for
I have also been thinking about ways to gain an appreciation for my body and I realized that when we push ourselves further than we think we can go we see just how much we can do. I am working on pushing myself. Right now I am trying to push myself to get up early and exercise...it may take a lot of pushing.
Love this idea. It's true that positivity can go a long way.
